2022 Truck Pull

GENERAL INFORMATION

 

What is Truck Pull?

Truck Pull is an annual fundraiser event hosted by HealthQuest of Hunterdon to benefit the Flemington-Raritan First Aid & Rescue Squad. Teams of up to 12 people compete to see who can pull Heavy Rescue 495 about 50 yards across pavement the fastest. Heavy Rescue 495 is a 2010 Pierce Velocity weighing in at 68,000 pounds making this challenging and rewarding.

 

When Will Truck Pull take place?

The Truck Pull will be on Saturday, November 12, 2022, starting at 9:00 AM:

9:00 AM - Check-In Opens

9:30 AM - Captain’s Meeting - Mandatory for all Team Captains!

9:45 AM - All participants welcome meeting

10:00 AM - First Pull Begins

TBD - Kids' Pull – Immediately following the main event

 

Teams pull at 5-minute intervals. The event moves FAST so be ready!

 

Where is Truck Pull?

Truck Pull will be at HealthQuest of Hunterdon, 310 Route 31 North, Flemington, NJ 08822. The event will be held on the North side of the building in the parking lot. Look for the big orange trucks—you won’t miss us!

 

What do I wear on the day of the event?

Dress in layers. Wear shoes that have a lot of GRIP and won’t fall off! Chalk is provided by HealthQuest, but gloves are a GREAT idea.

Do I have to purchase tickets to be a spectator?

Nope! All spectators are welcome to cheer on the teams without a ticket.

 

Are there multiple divisions or categories of competitors?

NEW FOR 2022: We added different division options for you to compete in–

  • Classic Division/Mixed: Up to 12 persons per team (mixed gender, open to all competitors)

  • Women’s Division: Up to 12 persons per team (women only)

  • Elite Division: Up to 6 persons per team (mixed gender, open to all competitors)

  • Legendary Division: By invitation only. Team of 2 (mixed gender)

 

What else is new for 2022?

Truck Pull 2022 will be bigger and better than any previous year – expect to find music, food/beverage vendors, and more–maybe even a helicopter or two. Even more photo opportunities with Emergency Service and Military vehicles will be available for kids of all ages.

Do I have to be a HealthQuest member to attend or participate?

Nope! The event is open to the public. Spectators and participants are welcome and encouraged.

 

Is the Kids' Pull returning for 2022?

A smaller, non-competitive “Kids’ Truck Pull” is also available. Kids looking to get in on the excitement of the day will work together as one large team to pull a smaller Squad vehicle.

 

Kids may be broken up into several smaller groups depending on enrollment. Use the kids' pull ticket option to sign up.

 

Kids' Pull starts immediately following the last team of the main truck pull. All participants must be present. Kids' Pull will start promptly and cannot wait for any participants who are not present.

 

We estimate a start between 11:00 AM and 11:30 AM. 

 

What else is going on at Truck Pull?

In addition to the competition, several Squad vehicles will be on hand for interactive display. In previous years, this has included BLS ambulances, the Squad’s Technical Rescue vehicle (“The Mack”), the Squad’s converted military Special Services/Water Rescue Vehicle (“The Storm Truck”), and of course, Heavy Rescue 495. People of all ages are welcome to look at, touch, and learn about our specialized life-saving equipment and meet members of our team. There will be plenty to see and many great photo opportunities for the whole family.

 

Previous years have seen many local EMS/Rescue Squads, Police Departments, and Fire Departments enter their own teams into the competition. Expect to see fire trucks, police cars, rescue vehicles, MICUs, and more. You never know what kind of vehicle will drop in.

 

The HealthQuest team will be on hand to answer any questions about their programs and services. This is a great opportunity to speak to fitness and wellness professionals about your own goals and what HealthQuest has to offer to help you reach them.

 

Weather Tentative: A US Army Blackhawk Helicopter will land in the field between HealthQuest and Stop & Shop. A static display will be set up where everyone can take photos and peek inside.

 

I’m ready to pull, but I’m all by myself. Can I sign up as an individual?

Yes! If you sign up as an individual, you’ll be placed on a team with open spaces. Most of these teams are Captained by one of HealthQuest’s personal trainers. This is a great way to do something fun and meet new people. To sign up, select the “Unattached” option when ordering a ticket.

 

I’d like to sign up with a friend or two, but we don’t have enough in our group to form a full team. Can we all pull together?

Yes! Have each person sign up by ordering a ticket using the “Unattached” option. Once your group is signed up, contact Chelsea Salisbury at salisbury@hqfit.com with your request.

 

How much does it cost?

A per-participant donation will be collected for each registration. 100% of the proceeds benefit the Flemington-Raritan First Aid & Rescue Squad.

  • Classic Division & Women’s Division: $20 donation per person

  • Elite Division: $40 donation per person

  • Legendary Division: $60 donation per person

 

Group rates are available for full teams managed by a team Captain. This includes emergency services teams, high school/college sports teams, student clubs, local gyms, business, friend groups, and more. See the Groups section below.

 

For Kids’ Pull, a $10 per participant donation will be collected. Select Kid’s Truck Pull when registering your participant.

 

In honor of Veteran’s Day, Veterans and active military may participate free of charge. We thank you for your service to our Nation. Contact Chelsea Salisbury at salisbury@hqfit.com for Veteran/activity military promo code prior to registering.

 

Do I need to pre-register?

Walk-ins are welcome, but we STRONGLY appreciate pre-registering by ordering a ticket online as it will assist in planning. 

 

Can I be part of more than one team?

Yes! Plan to join as many teams/groups as you’d like. Many participants are asked to jump in and help teams a person or two short to complete their bracket. The record for most pulls in a day was three… set by a Squad EMT!

 

Can under 18s participate in the main truck pull?

Yes! Under 18s may take place in the main truck pull. Parent or legal guardian permission is required, and a waiver must be signed by the parent or legal guardian.

 

GROUPS / EMERGENCY SERVICES ORGANIZATIONS

 

I have a group of friends/coworkers/gym buddies/team members and I’d like to start my own team! What do I need to do? (non-emergency services teams)

Sounds great to us! Team Captain, please contact Chelsea Salisbury at salisbury@hqfit.com to register your team. Be sure to indicate which division you’d like to compete in. A ticket option with your team’s name will be added to the list of registration options and each of your team members can sign up. Team Captains participate for FREE.

 

Don’t worry if your team is shy a head or two – many groups have successfully recruited a “pick up” or two to fill their bracket on the day of the event. Anyone with a ticket is able to pull a second time for your team, and anyone without a ticket can purchase one on the day of the event.

 

My emergency services organization is putting together a team! How do we sign up?

Team Captain, please contact Andrew Glowacki at andrew.glowacki@frfars.org  or Kate Moran at kate.moran@frfars.org for sign up instructions. Be sure to include which division you’d like to compete in. Emergency services teams are managed by a Captain and do not need to be finalized until the day of the event.

 

Previous years have seen teams represent Raritan Township Police Department, Raritan Township Fire Company, Whitehouse Rescue Squad, Hunterdon Medical Center, Flemington Fire Department, and of course, Flemington-Raritan First Aid & Rescue Squad.

  • Emergency Services Organizations (Any Division, flat fee): $160

  • All Others (Captains pull FREE): (12 person Divisions): $220; (6 person divisions): $200
