Shannon Giuliani (née Bingert) joined FRFARS in 2005, kickstarting her career in emergency services. In addition to her EMT certification, Shannon is also a Firefighter. She has taken specialized classes in bleeding control (B-CON), Pediatric Education for Prehospital Professionals (PEPP), Sick Not Sick (which helps in the rapid assessment of patients), Airway Sounds, Crush Injuries, and Developmental Disability Awareness. She holds technician-level (the highest level) certification in confined space rescue, vehicle rescue, trench rescue, and rope rescue, in addition to other levels of training in over 10 additional disciplines and specialized topics. Shannon holds the title of EMS Captain in 2021, previously serving as the Deputy Chief in 2019 and 2020. She is a current trustee of the Squad and has also held the positions of Recording Secretary and Treasurer over the years. Outside of FRFARS, Shannon is a career EMT and works full time providing EMS coverage in a nearby town. She has also been active in the Civil Air Patrol.
In addition to gaining a wide array of skills and knowledge through the Squad, Shannon also met her husband, Dave Giuliani. After becoming good friends over several years of being on the Squad together, Dave and Shannon began dating. Dave proposed in August of 2012, and the couple married in May of 2014. Both Dave and Shannon consider the Squad a second home rather than a second job or activity. Even after 15-20 years with FRFARS, Dave and Shannon plan to stay on board for the long haul.
“This is where my EMS and Rescue roots are. It isn’t just an agency, it’s a second family,” says Shannon.
