This evening, the Flemington - Raritan First Aid and Rescue Squad was dispatched at approximately 1900 Hours to a residential construction site on Demott Road in Raritan Township, off Old Clinton Road, for an overturned all-terrain forklift with an unconscious male worker.
Upon arrival, Squad personnel found a 41 year old male unconscious with a head injury. He was apparently using the forklift as a manlift platform to access exterior work at the second floor level. When the machine upset on the muddy ground and turned over, the worker fell approximately 15-20' to the ground. The worker was quickly packaged and moved to BLS ambulance 49-55 for transport to the landing zone. Due to ground conditions at the scene as well as the proximity to Hunterdon Medical Center, the LZ at the medical center was chosen for NorthSTAR. The subject was transferred to NorthSTAR and airlifted to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick for treatment.
Responding units included Ambulance 49-55, Heavy Rescue 49-56, Chief Hoffman in Car 495, and HMC MICU EMS-1 provided the ALS care. Investigation by Raritan Township PD.
